The greatest victory in life is not success the first time trial but getting up each time you fall. I have learnt a lot in life overcoming and adjusting in life when it comes to career and my dream of becoming a successful college professor in the near future. My career has seen a lot of challenges, most likely family challenges which has pressured me of prioritizing my family goal over my career goal. However, my determination, persistency and focus always motivates me to continue to pursue my career goal of becoming a successful academia, giving back to the society that has help me to achieve my goal in life.
It all started when I match into a psychiatry residency at Metrohealth hospital in Cleveland Ohio some few years back. I was excited and happy to continue my dream to become a License physician. However, after completing my intern year, I have to make a choice of choosing between my career goals and help my family to take care of my sick father who at that time suffers from complications of multiple stroke and became quadriplegic. As the eldest child among 2 other younger siblings, I have no choice but to take that step of taking care of my father and suspend my career for the mean time. Unfortunately, my father died from his medical complication and I vowed to him to complete my professional goal of becoming a successful lecturer.
I have chosen to lecture in biological sciences because my experiences in life has conceptualize my success in this field. When I left residency to take care of my father in New Jersey, I worked with several physicians, hospitals and taught whenever I get the time so that I can be up to date with my clinical and academic skills. I have also work as a clinical research assistant, coordinator and associate in various discipline including oncology. I am currently working as an adjunct Professor teaching Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology and Immunology for almost two years now at two different colleges in Ohio. I plan teaching pathology in the next coming semester before getting back to residency in next June, 2018.
我很确定我擅长教学不同biological sciences due to the many clinical, research and academic experiences that I have acquire through all these years. Clinically, I have work and rotate in various medical and hospital institutions as well as taught in colleges for over two years in ohio state. My experience as a medical intern at Metrohealth gives me a greater advantage due to my rotations in various specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine and so on. My research experience as a therapeutic or diagnostic research coordinator and associates gives me a greater tool in dealing with various pathological diseases. Moreover, my experience in the academic sector as adjunct professor to pre-medical, nursing and other health care students of various discipline gives me the upper hand of successfully completing a medical residence. In other words, my vast experience indicates a meticulous person that pays attention to details, and persistence in solving complex cases. In addition to this I am also a fast learner and can adjust to situation very early and easily. I remember when I was hired on the Sunday as an adjunct professor for Anatomy and Physiology and had to start work the next day on the Monday. I quickly adjust to the situation and so far excelled in the field as an instructor.
I was able to quickly adjust as an Instructor in college within the short time frame due to effective organization, team-work spirit and good leadership role. Henceforth, this always reflect on the students' success rate primarily due to good teamwork and organization on the part of the faculty members. In the past I have always tried my best going to several conferences or seminar just to acquire knowledge. I once went to a conference in Texas with my lead instructor to see the effective way of using current technology such as I-pad and social media to encourage studies in the younger population.
Finally, I will like to use this medical training acquired during residency to pursue further research studies and teach future health professional. Moreover, these prehealth students will need help in inculcating the right clinical, professional and academic attribute in their medical training. Henceforth, looking towards the future, I will like to be in an environment that will encourage biological sciences education.
