As I reminisce about my educational experience, I reflect neither on the grades I received nor the classes I took, but on my teachers. I have had the privilege of learning under quality teachers, but the ones that stand out are those who not only taught content effectively, but also never gave up on any student. My aim as an educator is continue that impact onto my future students starting with the students in your district. With that being said, I would greatly appreciate a student teaching assignment in the spring of 2017. In any circumstance, I strive to provide the best education for each student and I will do the same within your district. Here are a few of my experiences that display my rigorous teaching nature.
In the summer of 2014, I worked as the lead teacher of a grade school classroom at Itasca Summer School. Not only was this my first experience as a classroom teacher, but I also overcame the challenging task of designing math and english curricula appropriate for first grade students. I began the summer session by assessing each student in order to identify appropriate starting points and attainable learning goals. I then developed differentiated lesson plans suitable for each of the two student groups I formed. As the summer session progressed, the averages for homework and tests followed a steady incline and every student achieved his or her learning goal. I resolved to push the academic limits of 1st grade students and my efforts paid off through their academic performances.
Throughout the fall semester of 2015, I completed hours as a clinical observational student at Stratton Elementary School. Interning at such a diverse district has shown me the importance of investment in every student. I worked closely with students that frequently misbehaved and despised education. Instead of quitting or becoming frustrated with these students, I demonstrated passion and professionalism by asking guiding questions and promoting student engagement. Ultimately, due to my relentless efforts, I witnessed academic and behavioral improvements in each of these students.
I am eager to promote and challenge. With the heart of an educator and extensive classroom experience, I wait in anticipation for an opportunity to inspire young minds.
