As a dyslexic, I know what it is like to feel like you are unimportant, undervalued and to be told that you will never be as smart as the other kids. With hard work and effort, I went from having no chance at college to earning a full ride academic scholarship at Kilgore college and other academic achievement scholarships. The great thing about America is with hard work and dedication, your dreams can come true.

My family started home schooling me when I was diagnosed with dyslexia in the fourth grade. With the personal one-on-one care that I received, I was able to learn better and find a better way for me to comprehend the material that I needed to learn. I know first hand what it feels like to need a tailor-made teaching style. I bring that to all my students. In high school I found a love for drawing that I still keep up to this day between my studies. I also found a love for martial arts and working out--I am now a third degree in Krav maga! When I am not doing either of those, I love to read, write, and watch movies with my family. My current favorite shows are the Flash, Blue Bloods, Designated Survivor, Daredevil, and Frasier. I am a huge fan of the Marvel movies as well and Star Wars. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of watching Star Wars with my brother!

In high school I also found a love for singing and the theater. I did 4 years in choir, 2 years of opera, and performed in 6 different plays. I believe that the arts are just as important in our studies as the more traditional skills such as math and the sciences. These things help us to become more well-rounded as people and they help us to enjoy the scientific side of life for the beauty it is.

在大学里我参与了几个有限公司mmunity out reaches when I have the time! I love to volunteer in my community and have spent several years honing my teaching and communication skills by teaching young children. I have worked with kids ranging from pre-K to high school. Every age range is very different, it is a joy for me to interact with them and help pass on the knowledge that I have. I truly believe that the best way to help society is through our youth. If we help to guide them and teach them, then we can truly make the world a better place. I have personally mentored 4 different teenage boys, two of them are graduating this year, one to move on to college himself and become a psychiatrist, the other will be enlisting in our armed services. I am so proud of them both!

My teaching motto is "One size does not fit all." Psychologists identify at least 6 different learning styles, and that looks different for different people. When you take me up as your tutor, our first step will be to assess how you learn best, and what your learning style is. Next, we will use that to determine how much you know about the subject. Together, we will form a learning plan that is going to help you reach your goals.

What that looks like in practice is going to be very different for each student. If one student is a kinetics learner, I will set up problems for us to work through together and help you understand the material. If you are more of a visual learner, I will find ways for you to remember the material through pictures, graphs, and charts. If you are more of an auditory learner or oral learner, then we will talk it out together until you are an expert.

My dream was to be the first person in my family to earn their bachelors degree. In the Spring of 2018 I will have that dream fulfilled. Now that I am reaching the point where my dreams are coming true, I want to give back to society and help students in school reach their full potential. Let me join you and together, we can make your academic dreams come true.
