Everyone has the opportunity to grow personally and intellectually at their own pace. With patience and understanding, as well as compassion, we will lead to progress in what we do.

In the course of the first session, an introduction will be held and after initiating an effective introduction, there will be basic conversational interaction in order to begin to understand the needs of the student and expectation of the tutor.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

With initiation and encouraging self-help tools, as well as being supportive in a judgment-free environment.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Provide ongoing support along with resources and encouraging words.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would take the concept and make the focus of the day's lesson plan with patience and a paced tone.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I take the initiative to have reading material within their level of comprehension and interest, and I will read from this material slowly and or at a pace that the student appears comfortable with.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I have found that talking about the student's interests, their most concerning areas of learning, and finding a meeting point of both to be successful.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I would find topics within the area of difficulty that the student may not have been aware that has similarity to the subject they are struggling in. I would also provide interactive activities to distract from the obvious difficulties.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I will use questions and scenarios relevant to the subject matter at hand.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

I would positively recognize the student with every effort and progress they accomplish.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

I would have the student independently work on the subject and read the material to the best of their ability in order to better understand their areas of difficulties.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I adapt to each student individual need by targeting their comfort level and encouraging to work a little more with challenging materials.
