Private Online SAT Tutoring in Vancouver

High school students who are interested in continuing their education at universities like Simon Fraser University may want to consider reaching out to Varsity Tutors to connect with a Vancouver SAT tutor. Whether you are attending Henry Wise Wood High School, Western Canada Senior High School, or another institution in the area, doing well on the SAT could improve your chances of getting into the college of your dreams. While the SAT is not the only factor taken into consideration, many colleges and universities use your SAT scores as a part of their admissions decisions. As such, signing up for SAT tutoring in Vancouver could be a valuable investment in your future.

The SAT is broken down into four sections, including Math, Reading, Writing and Language, and an optional Essay section. Each section covers a variety of different topics, which can make preparing for the test a challenge. It is possible that you may be proficient in one or more of these subject areas, but not others. One of the advantages of working with a Vancouver SAT tutor is that you have control over the topics you review. For example, if you are having trouble with algebra and geometry but not reading comprehension or grammar, you can spend the bulk of your study time going over the math-related concepts. This kind of flexibility may not happen in school because your classmates may not be having trouble with the same concepts as you are. Thus, you may spend more time reviewing concepts you already know and not enough time on the concepts you need extra help understanding.

Studying with a Vancouver SAT tutor can also be advantageous because they can change the way they teach to fit with your specific learning style. Among your first few meetings with your instructor, they can identify what your learning style is and work on presenting the material in a way that makes the most sense to you. They can even take your interests and hobbies into account and related topics on the test to topics that can help you stage engaged in your study sessions.

In addition to reviewing material, SAT tutoring in Vancouver can also provide a chance to go over test-taking strategies that could prove invaluable on test day. One such strategy is time-management. You will only have a particular amount of time to finish each section. Thus, it could be important to get the timing of the test down so that you can maximize the number of questions you have the chance to answer. Your Vancouver SAT tutor can offer you practice tests, which can be a useful resource for both getting an idea as to which sections you should focus on, but also as a way of getting more familiar with the timing of the test. You can gain familiarity with how much time you can take on each question, and your instructor can provide feedback on areas where you may need to get quicker.

Despite all of your preparation and study time, there may still be questions on the SAT that you simply don't know. When this happens, you will likely need to guess. But rather than just choosing an answer at random, SAT tutoring in Vancouver can help you develop strategies to eliminate some wrong options so that you have a better chance at guessing correctly.

不管你是刚刚开始你的旅程的方向s preparing for the SAT or feel like you've hit a wall part of the way through, it may be in your best interest to contact Varsity Tutors so we can sign you up for SAT tutoring in Vancouver.

SAT Tutoring review by Adam in Vancouver
The student and I started looking at the Critical Reading section today. I demonstrated how to read the SAT passages and practiced this skill with him over several sections. The student is much more engaged and working harder to understand the material than when we first started meeting. He's beginning to really think through problems and take his full time on things.

SAT Tutoring review by Rebecca in Vancouver
Today the student and I reviewed math and writing for the SAT. He struggles a little bit with math so we focused on that today, practicing the strategies of backsolving and picking numbers, which helped him out when he wasn't sure how to otherwise approach the problem mathematically. He was confused by complex algebra and the wording on some problems, so we broke the problems down together to make sure he understood them. We also went over the writing section. He tended to make minor errors because he was reading the sentence incorrectly and was thus confused about what the sentence meant. We worked on reading more carefully and talked about common grammar errors.

我介绍了基础知识的学生,坐在言语test-taking, and working on the Critical Reading section fill in the blank question types. I believe the student needs to improve his vocabulary and critical reading skills, but by the end of the session we had discussed multiple fill-in-the-blank strategies to help him increase his Critical Reading score. The student was great to work with, enthusiastic, patient, and willing to do the homework I assigned him.

SAT Tutoring review by Matthew in Vancouver
We spent the full lesson covering the Introduction to the Math Section, then we went over the general topics of Number Theory, Operations, Number Lines, and Algebra. We went through a number of practice problems, then, together, we completed the math section of a sample SAT in the back of the book. The student struggled with higher numbered questions, but she showed skill at implementing strategies such as plugging in real numbers where there was a single or double variable; she also learned how to use the answer choices given to help answer problems, especially word problems involving ratios and rates. Although we didn't cover the Geometry section specifically, she performed well on a number of problems involving triangles, circle circumferences, and areas. To finish, we went through a couple of brief Passage Based Reading questions, and several Sentence Completion questions, which she scored well on.

SAT Tutoring review by Yang in Vancouver
We started over from the very beginning of SAT test session - the numbers and fractions and the percentage. Her foundation seems a little bit weak, so we need to put more time to review everything. Overall, she did a great job.

SAT Tutoring review by Ginger in Vancouver
The student and I first reviewed geometry formulas and concepts on the SAT. I emphasized learning 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangle properties. After that, we discussed grammar concepts, and I had her read an overview of major grammar concepts on the SAT, which I'd reviewed with her last time. I then had her do more "identifying sentence error" questions; reading the grammar concepts seemed to help her improve. We also went through a free response section in math. I gave her some tips for saving time.
