I LOVE MATH! Majority people who have heard me say this, have told me that they are afraid of Math, or how difficult it is to remember so many steps and rules, or how the math taught in school is never used in real life. However, that is not the experience that I have had with Math. On the contrary, I see it as a discipline that provides so many opportunities for sense-making, problem-solving, and perseverance which are important skills that are needed in any workplace today.
So, I made it my personal and professional goal to show people what I see when doing and learning Math. And that is the reason I am so passionate about teaching Mathematics! I want my learners to experience math as a complex yet beautiful discipline full of fantastic opportunities to learn important content and develop cognitive skills, essential to be successful in the 21st century world. I aim at helping my learners understand the mathematics conceptually beyond just memorizing facts, formulas, and procedures. My teaching involves creating an active learning environment which is learner-focused, that uses mathematical manipulatives, tools, and technologies that help make sense of the mathematical content being learnt, and making connections with real-world application of these mathematical concepts.
I am a graduate of University of Miami with a PhD in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on Mathematics Education. I have a total of 18 years of tutoring experience for a variety of Mathematical subjects like Pre-Algebra, Algebra1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1, and Calculus 2 across multiple countries. I also have experience tutoring for Math content for standardized tests like ACT, SAT, GRE, and teacher prep exams. In addition to tutoring students, I have taught Mathematics in public schools in Texas, and North Carolina. I have also trained Mathematics classroom teachers on engaging their learners in ways that help them make sense of the mathematics that is being taught.

In my leisure time, all I want to do is sip a cup of coffee and read a book. I also enjoy taking a walk while listening to some fast-paced music. One of the strange things that I enjoy is trying to solve random Math problems. I would like to see how fast I can solve it or if I can solve it in more than one ways.
