Spanish Tutoring review by Evan in Vancouver
Both students had Spanish homework last night, although Student 1 was mostly working on vocabulary for his test this week and already had most of it memorized. Student 2's Spanish stuff is getting more and more complex as he advances through Spanish 2, which means that his assignments are getting more challenging for him. The hardest part at the moment is still distinguishing between preterite and imperfect tenses, which in Spanish are both used to talk about the past, but in slightly different contexts.

The student and I discussed how his tests are formatted so that I could get a better idea of how to prepare him. Then we went over direct object pronouns and other worksheets from Chapter 6A, which he has just finished. I gave him tips on how to study for his next 100 point test, which will be next week. We decided to meet on a weekly basis with hour-long sessions.

Spanish Tutoring review by Michael in Vancouver
Student 1 - Focused on the preterite vs. imperfect verb tense, explained any completed action in the past calls for the preterite whereas an on-going action or description of a past event calls for the use of the imperfect, conjugated ir/ser in the preterite, since they share a common form, formula of "was going to do doing"= ir(imperfect)+a+infinitive, and concluded with superlatives(mas que, menos que, tan como) Student 2 - Focused on an upcoming test this Friday, learned preterite endings for '-ar' verbs, broke down pronunciation by clapping out each syllable, reviewed vocabulary, concluded with reflexive verbs in the preterite and 'ir'

Spanish Tutoring review by Rebecca in Vancouver
Today the student and I went through the material she has been covering, mainly the culture of Argentina. I made sure that she understood the passages that she had read because she said that it was material that could come up on tests. Her main area of weakness is vocabulary because she has not been immersed in the vocabulary for as long as her peers have. We decided to go over the vocab starting from the beginning of the book and covered the preliminary vocabulary in the front of the book and will start going through chapter by chapter all of the material she has missed.

The student and I finished many of his voice activities that he has to record and submit at school. He was able to conjugate most of the verbs without any help and was also able to write sentences clearly and with proper grammar.
