Hi! I'm Shelli! I graduated with a BS in Biology from Spelman College in 2010. It was in undergrad that I found my passion...research! As a result, I earned a MPH from the University of SC. During that time, I had the privilege of teaching general biology lab, microbiology lab, physiology lab, and some muscular physiology lectures. After teaching many very intelligent, capable, yet nervous students I came to this realization...BIOLOGY SHOULD BE FUN! Most students become overwhelmed with the fear that Biology will be difficult and miss out on all the fun.

In order to make Biology fun, I like to use real life comparisons to help students understand what happens on a biological level. This enables the student to really understand the fundamental concepts of Biology. Once this is achieved, the student is able to continue to learn new biological concepts and even ENJOY learning them!

Helping students to learn complex scientific concepts is more than just a job for me, it is a passion. I remember exactly what it felt like to master daunting concepts, and I want every student to feel the confidence that comes with truly understanding a topic. This is my mission!

I taught General Biology, Physiology, and Microbiology to undergraduate students at the University of SC. I also tutored these subjects previously :) Further, I can also assist with Biochemisty, Biostatistics, and Epidemiology as I am a researcher with doctoral level training in these subjects.
