I studied mathematics at Purdue University and obtained a PhD there. I have over ten years experience teaching Algebra, Calculus 1-3, Differential Equations, and similar math courses in a research university setting. This has always entailed conducting office hours with interested students on a one-on-one basis, and these types of sessions are typically most productive.

Learning mathematics is a lot like picking up a musical instrument. If you absorb the ideas of a learning unit, and then practice the material, you can expect to be able to play that instrument, and play it relatively well, over time. It is just that simple!
