Certified Tutor
I recently completed an M.A. in Teaching Diverse Learners (dual endorsement: Special Education and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse education) at the University of Northern Colorado. I am licensed in Colorado (Elementary Education K-6), I have a TESOL certificate (IOA 120 hours), and I am trained in Orton-Gillingham (K-6).
In addition, I have an M.A. in Teaching from the University of Southern California (Elementary Education K-5), a graduate certificate in College Teaching and Learning, an M.S. in Administration of Justice, and a B.S. in Criminal Justice.
I believe that every person has the potential to be a capable learner. I also think that the best leaders are born from having to work diligently and tirelessly to reach their goals.
我以前是一名执法人员,investigator, trainer, college adjunct instructor, and Army National Guard veteran. I bring a unique set of skills, experiences, and personal assets to my teaching approach. I have abundant passion and tenacity for teaching all learners. I am a cheer-leader for my students. And I am a champion for ideals that foster change and encourage self-confidence in my students.
My core proficiencies and commitments are:
I am creative, community minded, and committed to building a learning environment that values acceptance, respect, self-efficacy, and collaboration.
I am adept at developing engaging lesson plans, creative assessment techniques, and differentiated instruction.
I support all student levels and abilities with methodologies such as hands-on experiential learning, problem-based learning, and collaborative exploration.
I follow a student-centric perspective and strive to provide a stimulating learning environment.
I encourage my students to embrace their own learning, to self-advocate, and to build critical thinking skills.
One of my strengths is creating moments for student to seek out novel ways to answer questions, to shift paradigms so they can critically assess concepts, and use lateral thinking strategies to engage with their learning process in the most effective and individualized way.

我有一个品味的激情和兴趣,but if I were to focus in on a specific area, I would say that the most important is words, books, and writing. I love language, speaking, conversing, and the expression of ideas and thoughts. I am fascinated by the feel of a book in my hand and truly enjoy pondering what journeys an old worn text may have had. Ergo, I am a huge proponent of experiencing words, writing, and other communication methods; especially for people who struggle with this particular area! Other things I love include mountain biking, cooking and nutrition, “doing” art, movies, animals, telling jokes and laughing, and spending time with my family. And, if that isn’t enough, I also enjoy exploring, traveling, photography, and being outdoors!
