With a BA in Drama and Education, MA in Theatre Arts, MLIS in Library Science and Information Technology; 30 years English teaching experience K-12; and one-on-one personalized tutoring for 3rd -12th graders in Seattle's finest private schools, I can help by providing reading intervention strategies that improve fluency and comprehension. I assist students in the writing process by teaching them to start with a blueprint, organize thoughts into paragraphs around a key idea, revise, recognize errors of convention related to capitalization, spelling, complete sentences and style. I am fastidious in meeting style requirements, such as MLA, AP and Chicago. I model examples of good writing that include sentence variety, strong verbs and accurate subjects. I also help with school assignments and homework. In addition to working with K-12 students, I assist college, university and graduate students in writing whether it is with the intent to publish in a professional journal or analyze Harvard Business Review Case Studies. While constructing back-of-book indexes I have edited authors' work for publication in books and encyclopedias. I enjoy using my skills and experience as a teacher, researcher, writer and lifelong learner to help students of all ages improve their writing whether it is for a school assignment, publication, or master's thesis. I share my enthusiasm for learning and curiosity for subjects and walk alongside the student facing the writing assignment. I relish my students' success.
