I have a B.A. in Child Development and completed my student teaching in a kindergarten bilingual class. When I entered the workforce, I took a sharp turn into secondary school. For the past 7 years, I have taught English and English as a Second Language (ESL) for students in grade 6-11. I have taught middle and high school students in Texas, Florida, and New York- in private and pubic schools.
English and literature has always come very easy for me. Growing up, I would tutor my younger bother who struggled in these subjects. Now, as a teacher, I enjoy making reading and writing fun by incorporating current events and interesting subjects.
As a tutor, I feel I have the flexibility to make learning fun and interesting. Once the students comprehend the content, it will make it much easier (and less overwhelming) when the topics are less interesting.
