Teaching is more than simply conveying information from one person to another, it's about building skills, harnessing thought, and opening the world. I teach because I love learning.
I am an adjunct professor for a small private regional university and teach in the area of government and management. I have a masters degree in public policy from the University of Northern Iowa and a masters degree in business administration from Texas A&M. I also hold a bachelors degree in political science.
I have worked in the public and non-profits sectors for the majority of my professional life, mostly in city government and community development.

What is your teaching philosophy?
To teach the student and develop the learner.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I focus on getting to know the student, their specific needs, and then developing a strategy to best achieve their goals. Each learner is different, and each strategy is unique.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Topics will change, but learning strategies are critical for the learner. Not only will we cover your topics; we'll hone our learning strategies to fit the learner.
