What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy stems from the linear progression of prior working-knowledge or student familiarization with the material and their personal interest or capacity to grasp and eat up the info being presented; my showing of the information and chosen behavioral heuristics while doing so parallel my strategy of feeding cans through the bottle return machines. I try to keep as many lights going on as possible for excitement, and attempt to reward the students' successes appropriately, which is largely to be found in the advancement of intrinsic motivation within each self. Learning presents so many different styles. Each of us has various reasons for achievement and success, which inevitably requires scholarly efforts. We want to help each other. Education must be aided, and even sometimes directed, but never controlled or made too easy.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

It's all about my student! I might ask, "How comfortable are they in expressing themselves?" Maybe that's what needs to be worked on a bit - the learner-tutor relation. Then once a comfortable, working rapport has been established with the student, they can be sure to explain their own personal goals, techniques, and motivations which must inevitably be utilized and worked towards throughout each and every session.
