Kimberly
Certified Tutor
I have 5 years of intensive experience to bring to the table. Since 2011, I have gained a fairly significant following of families that turn to me when they need a tutor. The reason why is very simple: I provide a tutoring service that is individualized, caring, engaging, and most importantly, honest. I may have fallen into tutoring, but it is something that I truly feel for. The service that I provide to my families is carefully thought out and designed to, if not make each session fun, then at least a little more painless than simply lecturing on end for hours.

What is your teaching philosophy?
When it comes to teaching, my philosophy is all about being able to enjoy the experience. Whether this means learning about something from a more practical approach, like building a circuit to understand electronics or going to a volunteer day at a dig site to learn about archaeology and earth science, or simply making flashcards to help review for a test, being able to enjoy the process is what makes a world of difference.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Typically, during the first session, I like to evaluate what the student thinks are their strengths and weaknesses. I also try to make any uncomfortable students feel more at ease. We might not jump directly into a major tutoring session immediately, but I have found that students are much more successful if they are more at ease with the tutor.
