I am able to tutor in the subjects of microbiology, immunology, virology, mycology and biology. I have a MS (Molecular Biology), MHS (Medical Laboratory Sciences) and MD (Microbiology and Immunology), with more than 10 years teaching experience. I have used didactic lectures, clinical and laboratory training to teach medical, dental, medical laboratory technical and nursing graduate students. In addition, I have medical research experience in gastroenterology as a postdoctoral fellow.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Know about the level of knowledge and the interests of students and explain to the students my availability when they need my help and knowledge.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can make a student become an independent learner by providing them with sources of information; methods of using the sources and acquiring the knowledge, and deciphering between necessary and essential information.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Providing with new but challenging approaches to problems and enthuse students to use novel methods to solve common problems.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Use the myriad of methods available to master a particular skill or concept and thus, approach the same problem in different ways.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Find the particular reason for difficulty in reading comprehension and address the cause. Break up the reading project to smaller projects.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Allow the student to express all his thoughts and ideas of the subject before starting to delve into the subject.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
First find the student's understanding of the subject, provide multiple methods and techniques to approach the subject, and connect the difficult subject with a subject that the student is interested in.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
The techniques, which will stimulate the student's multiple mental faculties including audio, visual, hands-on and encourage innovative ideas about the subject.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Positive feedback and incessant encouragement.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Allow, facilitate and encourage the student to express his/her needs.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Provide material and guide finding necessary information for a self-learner. Provide illustrations for visual learner. Didactic lectures for auditory learner. Change the pace of learning according to student's needs.

Textbooks, peer reviewed journals, audiovisual aids, didactic lectures.
