What is your teaching philosophy?

I hope to foster a love of learning by appreciating each student's individuality and unique motivation, allowing them to learn to teach themselves.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In our first session, we would spend a few minutes getting acquainted, learning their interests, struggles, and strengths. Using this I would tailor the rest of the session and future sessions as much as possible for the student.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I believe that the best way to create independent learners is by helping students discover what motivates them and those aspects of learning that they can enjoy.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I believe that the key to motivation in learning is fostering a low anxiety environment of unconditional positive regard.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would learn what their perspective on the concept is, and try to help them see a new approach or angle from which to view the subject.
