Certified Tutor

Hello,
I am currently a senior at the Colorado School of Mines, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a special interest in heat transfer and fluid flow. I'm also getting a math minor in computational mathematics. As much as I love learning, I love teaching and helping my peers and many others understand the material with many years of tutoring experience. I work hard to make sure the subjects at hand are well understood as well as a fun, engaging, and accessible learning experience for everyone.
During my free time, I enjoy making my friends and family laugh, play piano and guitar, play video games, and weight-lift.
Thank you for viewing my profile and hope to see you soon.

What is your teaching philosophy?

我教为理解学科l well enough where the student feels comfortable enough to explain the concept to a high standard. When the student can show mastery through teaching, they can show mastery on homework and exams.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Typically I want to get to know the student where I can identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as what they do and don't understand so I can help them improve in their subject they are struggling in. This way we can set a positive, fun tempo that will carry throughout many sessions.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

My personal way to stay motivated is to do the things that I enjoy and integrate the things that are fun with the subjects that are slow. By doing so, I can make boring subjects a little more fun. So I'd use my personal experience to help others stay motivated as well as by integrating what they like into everything we do.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

If a student is having a difficulty, I'd try new ways to explain the concept. This can include different organization strategies, a different approach to the problems, or even finding what is confusing and trying to clear it out.
