I attended the University of North Florida and received a Bachelor Degree in Community Health. I received a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. My favorite subject to tutor is Reading because its comes naturally. I tutor students in most subjects that are Language Arts/Reading and Health based. My interests outside of tutoring include refurbishing old things like wood projects, sewing, crafting and singing. I have been tutoring for the last fifteen years at all levels.
I believe in the age old saying that states, "Reading is Fundamental," and I believe that every child has the ability to learn. It is my goal to ensure that students learn strategies to overcome their reading deficits, but more importantly that they love to read.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that all children have the ability to learn, and I work very hard to find their learning style.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I usually give a pre-test and give a personal interview to gather trouble areas.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I introduce them to strategies, work through them with the students, and have them practice alone.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I encourage students to take the learning process step by step so that it wont become overwhelming.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I have the student practice endurance.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I usually give them a pre test and then from the data given, I work up a learning plan for the student.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Summarizing, paraphrasing, and using key words.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would instill confidence in the student by providing them with the extra help step by step progression.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Explain the directions and practice different strategies with the student.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I would give the student consistent praise and practice.

Gathering data to analyze strengths and weaknesses.

Every child learns differently, and it is essential to differentiate lessons to accommodate all learners.
