我am a recent law graduate and skilled at writing, editing, and reading comprehension. My mother was an educator who taught me different study skills and tricks for picking up reading, and I grew up helping my friends with their homework. I genuinely enjoy helping other people learn things they did not know before, and to gain confidence and competence in areas that previously challenged them. I believe that the most important attribute I possess that makes me a great tutor is my open-mindedness. I understand on a personal level that different people have different learning styles, strengths, etc., and that often problems can be solved and concepts may be grasped just by looking at them from another perspective. I have experience working with students of varying age groups. I also have some experience assisting high school-aged students with college admissions essays and other writing projects. As an undergraduate, I frequently tutored classmates in essay writing and edited papers, which helped pay for my expenses during college. I enjoy helping people and enjoy teaching in particular because it gives you the opportunity to empower other people and genuinely help them.

Remember context clues, breaking down sentences, and keeping the whole picture in mind.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Reassure them that mastery takes time, and there are strategies you can use to help to grasp the material.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Flashcards, practice questions, and practice reading materials.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ask them about which topics and areas they feel least confident, then find out which areas they feel most confident about, and try to find a synergy between them.
What is your teaching philosophy?
