我是一个在曼维高中化学老师。I taught AP, honors, and regular level chemistry. I am from Nutley, NJ but am now living in Raritan, NJ. My philosophy of teaching is learning by doing. I am able to tutor in most Math, and all Science subjects. My favorite method to teach is one on one, and figuring out how a student processes information allows them to learn the subject material their way. I have tutored a total of 20 different students in high school and college; all of them have improved their test scores.
As a teacher of 5 years, I have learned a lot on different teaching methods. Science and math are hard concepts to grasp, but I will make learning them fun and easy. I have always loved science and math, and it just comes second nature to me. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching Physical Science and a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from the College of New Jersey. Please consider me when you choose your future tutor.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Learning by practicing and doing, and experiencing the problem.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Find the foundations the student has and needs.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Teach them how to study, take notes, and find resources.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Enlighten them as to the purpose of the material.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Break down the problem step by step. Use analogies.

Talk to them like they are a person. Keep an upbeat attitude and provide constant reassurance.

Relate the topic to interests that they have in the real world.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Little quizzes. Have them explain the topic back to me.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Tell them everyone has been there and practice makes perfect.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Look at old tests and how they perform on the topic at hand.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Learn who the student is (i.e., their struggles and strengths) and apply that understanding to the lesson.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Calculators, YouTube, paper, visuals, demos, and modeling of problems.
