Certified Tutor

I graduated from Colorado College with an elementary teaching license and a background in psychology. While in college, I was a tutor, and later a site coordinator for the Children’s Literacy Center, where I supported first through sixth grade learners in their reading and writing. I also worked as a fellow in the admissions office at Colorado College, where I interviewed prospective students and evaluated admissions essays. I then received my M.Ed. from the University of Virginia is Educational Psychology in 2013, specializing in motivation and fostering a “growth mindset” in children. During this time, I provided supplemental math support at an elementary school as a mathematics support interventionist. I am currently an upper elementary Montessori teacher locally, but love children of all ages. I am passionate about tutoring in writing, reading, and psychology. However, I am specifically interested in supporting high school students overcome both the academic and psychological challenges involved in standardized testing with which I myself struggled. I strongly believe that with a positive mindset, dedicated preparation, and enthusiasm, everyone can overcome obstacles. In my free time I love to read, cook, hike, enjoy music, and exercise in all forms.
