I believe that tutoring is not about repeating classroom instructions or teachers’ curriculums. It’s about figuring out how the student learns and teaching from that point. No student is the same, and it’s not right to assume all students learn in the same way. That’s why I love tutoring – it allows me to get to know someone and help him or her learn in a way that works.

When I was in school, I felt very frustrated because I couldn’t grasp certain concepts. It wasn’t until I realized that I was a visual learner that I finally started to enjoy going to school. I know first hand that difficulty in classroom concepts can lead to a lack of confidence. Students are dealing with enough pressure, and they don’t need confusion in school on top of that. I became a tutor so I could help students, some like me, get past that frustration and become comfortable and confident with all of their classes.

I graduated from the Community College of Aurora in May with an AAS. In two years, I will be graduating from DU with a BA in Emergent Digital Practices. My skill set is very well rounded, with expertise in mathematics, reading, and writing.
