I received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. I moved to the Denver area in 1980. I enjoy astronomy, photography, birding, geocaching (ask me!), reading, and exercise (especially racquetball). I generally like the outdoors, except in the summer, when it is too hot and I like to dabble in computers as well. I did some tutoring in college, and then worked with a wide range of private clients as well as with another private tutoring company. I currently tutor Mathematics up to Algebra 1. I love working one-on-one with students of all ages.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Pencil to paper. Wrong answers help the student learn. I might backtrack to the basics, and write rules on a new sheet of paper.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
After the student does the given problem, have the student do more problems. Verbally quiz the student.
