I am a passionate and creative individual who goes above and beyond for the things and the people I care about in life. Personally, I have found that my true place in life is with youth from urban backgrounds and helping them overcome the boundaries and barriers set before them due to their individual circumstances.
I firmly believe that success is determined by ones ability to aide others in their journey through life towards success. Teaching, tutoring, mentoring and nurturing students is what I was created to do and my instruction runs parallel with this belief.
As a Graduate of Eastern Michigan University's College of Arts and Sciences and a 2012 Masters of Arts in Education recipient from the University of Phoenix, I have found my place in this world. My goal is to guide students to their place.

By any means necessary.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Getting to know you activity. Skills assessment. Goal setting worksheet.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Guided Practice and Independent Practice. I show you how to do the work. We do the work. You do the work
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Reflecting back to the goal setting worksheet. Whenever we reach a new goal, then the student will receive an incentive.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Reteach.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Meet them where they are with texts they can comprehend, and then move up.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
A skills assessment lets me know where they struggle and where we need to begin.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Informal and Formal Assessments. Discussions. Communication with parent and teacher.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Each child is different. Identifying your student's learning style is important to pinpoint how to deliver instruction.
