Certified Tutor

I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Economics and Latin American Studies, Magna Cum Laude, from North Park University in Chicago, IL (which I completed in 2008), and a Master's in Economics and Public Policy from Tec de Monterrey in Mexico City, Mexico. I have been working as a tutor and test-prep teacher since the fall of 2006. Since then, I have taught high-school admissions classes and ACT classes, and tutored for the SAT, ACT, high-school admissions exams, and a variety of academic subjects, including math, Spanish, and economics. Through having tutored in a variety of settings and in multiple countries with students from all around the world, I feel very comfortable interacting with a wide variety of backgrounds. I am fluent in Spanish, having studied and spoken the language since 2000, and having lived in Mexico City for two years, completing my master's degree in a program conducted entirely in Spanish. My favorite subject to tutor is mathematics; I love helping students arrive at a solution in the way that's best for them. I would describe my teaching and tutoring philosophy as one that constantly engages the students to be aware of their problem-solving process. I try to improve the way that students tackle problems, so rather than diving in immediately after reading a problem, their first though is, "What do I need to do here?". Outside of the teaching and tutoring world, I work in financial technology. My hobbies include golf, Zumba, and taking walking tours around New York City.
