Example Question #1 :Family Models
Which of the following is not conventionally considered to be an alternate family form?
Cohabitation
None of these
Child rearing by same-sex couples
One-parent family
Gay and lesbian couples
None of these
"None of these" is the correct choice. According to modern sociological thought, all of these choices are considered to be alternate family forms. Sociologists have contended that there is no "normal" definition for the family in our ever growing and changing society. Due to the constant transitioning of societal coupling relationships all of these family models are considered to be accurate alternate family forms.
Example Question #1 :Family And Society
Within a dysfunctional family, people that don't want to change and continue in the dysfunction would be considered as which of the following?
Caretakers
Rebels
Codependent
Mascots
Heroes
Codependent
The answer is codependent because the people within the family are willing to continue living in dysfunction based on a dependency to the other people, and not because it is rationally a good relationship. Codependent people exhibit an excess of emotional and psychological reliance in the relationship. The other terms such as hero, mascot, and rebel are roles that may exist within a dysfunctional family.
