Hmm... what does education mean to me? by Eva - October 2022 Scholarship Essay

教育是最基本的部分之一society. Education is something that begins the moment a person is born. From learning how to walk, to going to college, it is something that occurs over the span of life. The term "educate" means to teach. There are many ways of being educated, whether that is going to school or being taught how to ride a bike. Education is something that I should not take for granted, it is one of the best things to be blessed with.
When I first hear the word "education", I think about school. When I think about school, I think about AP Calculus, which is the toughest class I am currently in. Education can be difficult. I appreciate it, but it can also be the source of a lot of stress. When I thought more about what education means to me, I realized that in the same way I am being taught how to do math, I am also being taught life skills, such as how to manage my time and the stress that I have due to AP Calculus. Having this realization made me look back at the past 12 years of school, and I utterly understand how much I have learned.
I have learned how to make friends, deal with inconvenient situations, and how to read. All these things are so vital to my life, and none of them would have occurred without education. I am almost getting teary-eyed thinking about all my past teachers and how much they have done for me. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have here in America to be able to learn such amazing things, for free. The crazy thing is, I have been educated in so many other ways too, not just in school! I have been educated when I go to church, when I trained for my job that I work at, and when I was getting my drivers permit. Coaches for my soccer team have also been huge contributors to the guiding and furthering of my soccer career.
To say the least, education is something I could not live without. It means so much to me, because due to education, I can have the life I want and be able to achieve the goals I have set for myself. I have even been taught how important it is to be determined, which is another skill education has brought. I am so thankful to all my teachers, mentors, and coaches for teaching me and educating me to be a better student, athlete, person, and friend. I would not be the person I am today and the person I will become tomorrow without the foundations of education.
