Education is vital in the world. I intend to use what I learn throughout my academic career and continued, life-long learning thereafter to not only improve my own life, but the lives of my friends and family, and the community as a whole. I will do this through caring for animals because, as Mahatma Gandhi stated, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Caring for animals is how I will have a positive impact on the world.
My plan is to major in biology/zoology and establish a career as a veterinarian. I am not yet certain what my specialty will be, domesticated pets, farm animals, or animals in the wild. Regardless of which specialty I pursue, my goal will be to make the lives of both the animal and its owner better. I will use the knowledge and skills that I earn from my undergraduate and postgraduate studies to save the lives of furry family members and change for the better the potential fate of animals who are unable to help themselves and communicate directly with us.
Helping families find the right treatment path for their pets, or assisting farmers' livelihoods by keeping their livestock healthy, or saving creatures in the wild from unnecessary suffering and harm are all paths that I am excited to explore. No matter which veterinarian specialty I choose or where I go, I will strive to leave a positive imprint on animals’ lives and, in doing so, enrich the global community. Education holds the key to opening the door to my future as a veterinarian.
