I am a physics PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan in 2019 with a major in Physics and a minor in Computer Science, and recently received my master's degree in physics from CU Boulder in 2022. I spent my first semester at CU as a TA for introductory physics (PHYS 1110) and spent another semester tutoring college physics one-on-one. I currently tutor college-level physics (Mechanics and Electricity+Magnetism), college-level Calculus (1 and 2), and programming (C/C++ and python).

Being the son of a high school teacher, I have always had the teaching itch. I started by helping friends through homework sets in high school and progressed to being a TA as a graduate student. After two years off from teaching to finish up my graduate course work, I realized that I missed helping people learn and decided to return to the fold. I most enjoy teaching physics, which I think gets a bad reputation for the hard math involved; I try to focus on the interesting concepts at play and let the math follow.

As a tutor, I believe it is important to establish a firm foundation for each new concept before introducing complications. Starting with basic examples can provide strong building blocks that can be combined in novel ways to arrive at more complex concepts. In conjunction with this, I believe actively involving students using the Socratic method is a great way to lead students through a subject while ensuring they are engaging their brain along the way.
