You want to learn Mandarin. That's why I am here! I am a native Chinese speaker, but I am well aware that it takes more than just being a native speaker to be a good teacher of a language. So, I'll explain some of my strengths, which, hopefully, are what you are looking for in a good Mandarin teacher:

1. Standard Mandarin: I was born in Beijing. My spoken Chinese is standard Mandarin, which means when I speak Chinese, I don't have an accent at all. Speaking Chinese without an accent is essential because Chinese is a typical tonal language. So, when you speak Chinese with an accent or incorrect tones, you have a good chance of communicating a wrong idea. We don't want that to happen to beginning Chinese learners. So, when you choose your Mandarin teacher, the first thing you want to look at is whether or not he/she is, not only a native speaker, but also a standard Mandarin speaker. On that point, you are lucky, you found me!

2. Real-world experience: before I relocated to AZ, I had 10 years of experience working in a foreign insurance company and I was in charge of the Board of Directors Office. English was my working language. On the side, I also tutored English for about 3 years, and tutored Mandarin for about 2 years. I currently work as a freelance English-Chinese/Chinese-English translator. I am very confident in my mastery of English, so I am able to deliver my message correctly and explain things clearly when I teach Mandarin.

3. Strong understanding of Chinese culture: language and culture are inseparable. Language is deeply rooted into the culture. That's why it is very important to learn the culture that goes with the language you are studying. I have a master's degree in history, Beijing history in particular, and am well-versed in Chinese culture, tradition and customs. It would be my pleasure to share my expertise in these fields, as well as the fun stories behind the language with you. I can make the lessons engaging, bring the language to life, and I assure you that you will greatly benefit from the learning experience.

4.最后但并非最不重要,对教学的热情od personality: I am enthusiastic about teaching. It fills me with pleasure when I can help others through language and make a difference in their lives. I am outgoing, energetic and patient by nature. I believe that I can be an excellent source of motivation and encouragement as you learn Chinese.
