It's said that you never truly understand a subject until you can teach it. Tutoring allows me to continue engaging with the subjects that I most enjoyed in middle school and high school, and to continue finding deeper connections and interesting ideas within those subjects. No one subject exists in isolation, and no one course can cover a subject in its entirety---tutoring gives me the opportunity to explore math and science beyond the basics that I learned in the classroom.

I have been officially tutoring math and science since earning my associate's degree in mathematics in 2011, but even before that I was the friend people turned to when they were struggling with homework or couldn't quite grasp a concept. Beyond the STEM subjects, I also help teach music and movement for local marching band programs in my area.

In 2011, I graduated from Hagerstown Community College with an associate's degree in Mathematics and a 4.0 GPA in-major. Perhaps more significantly, however: when I was in eighth grade or so, I picked up a book at my local library called "Calculus Made Easy"---while I can't say I understood it all at the time, the fact that I could understand even some of it was thrilling to me. Calculus, and mathematics in general, is often made out to be an intensely difficult subject. But when you get past all the symbols and notation, it turns out to be a subject connected to many foundational ideas that we encounter on a daily basis.

I have been studying Physics to some degree for nearly a decade now, from my first general physics class in high school to my most recent courses on advanced optics and quantum mechanics. In 2011, I earned my community college's award for Excellence in Physics.

If you're struggling to survive your math and physics courses, or just want to move ahead and explore some interesting new topics, I'd love to be a part of your endeavor! Please don't hesitate to reach out for more information about myself and my tutoring availability. I look forward to hearing from you!
