Learning is my lifelong pursuit. I have already completed a Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology and will be completing a Master's degree in Prosthetics within a few months. Through my education, I have also developed my ability to teach. While in undergrad, I worked as a peer tutor and a lab assistant. I had the opportunity to instruct many of my peers in biological and experimental concepts. In addition, I tutored Algebra 1 and Geometry on the side for several private clients. Tutoring taught me one lesson: Learning is the most important skill a student can have. My passion for you as my client is to not only master a subject, but to also understand how you learn. I want you to develop effective self-teaching strategies so that you won't need a tutor. Learning is the greatest skill to have and I want to help you enjoy using it to master science and math!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

成功的学习需要积极向上的学生but it is my job to make sure the student is motivated. Motivated students perform better and have fun learning, which makes my job a lot easier. I often motivate students by helping them to connect concepts to everyday life, to other subjects they are studying, and to their hobbies and career interests. The plus side of this approach is that learning connected facts is a lot easier than trying to memorize a pile of isolated ones.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

My first session is usually spent trying to understand how the student thinks and learns. However, I still aim to have them learn at least one major concept before the first session is over. They signed up to learn, after all. Most importantly, I want the student to work with me during the first session to map out a timeline with goals and practical steps to achieve those goals. That way, all future sessions are connected and expectations are clear.
