During the session, I will walk the student through a problem, making an effort to explain and break down the problem. I then give the student an opportunity to work through similar problems with guidance as necessary. Currently as a medical student at SLU, I've grown to appreciate this method more and more. It is important to ensure my students understand the fundamental concepts and then be able to apply them backward and forward. For subjects such as English and composition courses, I help the student successfully edit their work and give the student tips and suggestions to improve their writing and editing skills. I try to tailor the session to the student and work based on their needs. I strive to explain everything in a manner that's easy for the student to understand and I encourage the student to practice good study habits as well as become more engaged in class."
