When you first enter a classroom and sit down on the rough, wooden seat the day begins anew with more information to learn. Hearing the bell ring, listening to the teacher start the lesson, and going from class to class. These everyday events are one part of the education experience for a high schooler, however, they signify much more. Education may consist of tedious tasks, but the overall process reaps rewards that have long-lasting benefits. Education means the possibility of improvement from your current position and an opening of doors for the future.

Studying for a test, or even a quiz, requires the student to manage their time wisely. More importantly, the student must be able to judge what they need to study and what they are already prepared for. Similarly, when a teacher is lecturing and the student is taking notes, they have to pick out what is important and what is just filler. This self-judgment helps build confidence and trust in one's own abilities when one receives academic success from them. These essential skills readily apply to life beyond academic institutions, time management is of utmost importance when you have busy schedules or hard deadlines. Likewise, various jobs require the candidate to be independent and confident in their own decisions, a skill that can be built up with experience. Through education, these skills can be easily combined with the curriculum to help students in the long run.

Another significance of education for me is the doors that education can open. While education itself can lead to the path of the following academic institution, it can also branch off into unexpected directions. Academically challenging courses may be the first that comes to mind when mentioning education, courses that focus on the arts and technology also apply. Education, by definition, is the acquisition of knowledge and information in a particular field. By being educated in different fields apart from academic ones opens more possibilities for future plans. Instead of being forced to take the path of college or ending at high school, there is the choice of trade schools and self-employed businesses.

Education means the chance to sharpen vital skills and opportunities that may otherwise be closed. While it may take considerable work and time to reap the rewards that education may offer, in the long term it is one of the most useful tools of society.
