I strive to help my students gain a true understanding of the subject matter they are learning. It is critical that you not only retain the material that you study, but understand on a fundamental level in a way that can be useful on a daily basis.
I have taught students in numerous settings. I've worked a as coach for over 20 years. First as an Assistant Football Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach at 2 different universities and then as a training and manager at several different health clubs. Additionally I've taught in continuing education at a local community college.
I'm a graduate of Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC with a BS in Sports management with a minor in business while playing varsity football. I also have a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA.
I currently serve as a tutor for students that are preparing to take examinations to receive their personal training certification as well as the other subjects that I have listed on my profile.
I was the first lead instructor of a National Academy of Sports Medicine preparation course at the community college level in the country. My students had a pass rate of one hundred percent for 3 years in a row and continued to maintain a pass rate of over 90 percent for the remainder of my tenure. I left instruction to open a fitness facility and I have continued to work with interns as well.
I enjoy working with aspiring fitness professionals because it gives me the opportunity to use my experience to help students apply their knowledge to "real world" settings.
My teaching style is casual but structured. I want my students to feel free to engage with me in a way that helps them to become certified while gaining confidence in their chosen profession.
I continue to work in the fitness profession on a daily basis and I specialize in corrective exercise and performance training.

I'm an avid reader a podcaster and also enjoy coaching football, wrestling and track at a local high school. I spend much of my time helping people with injuries that inhibit their daily lives and performance. I also enjoy working with young athletes to prevent injuries and improve their strength, agility quickness and strength.
