Certified Tutor
I have been teaching English as a first or second language to adults and high school students since 2006. My experiences with diverse people have shown me that there is no magic or overly-theoretical formula for helping learners make gains! Instead, it takes focused-practice, dedication, and lessons that fit with how people learn.
If we work together, I will ask your goals and ensure we focus on what you need to be successful. I want to honor the fact that you are working above and beyond your regular time. I like to stay focused, but I know how to weave in fun to make learning both engaging and effective.
I end each session with time for you to put your learning in your own words and explain how you will apply it. The goal is for you to leave each session knowing what you got from it, and having the chance to celebrate that is a good way to close a lesson.
In my career, it has been the challenges and questions from students that have pushed me to develop myself as a trainer, tutor, and teacher. I am thankful for that. Tutoring is a compliment to my full time career. It allows me to be creative and to show others they can learn anything with a combination of their own dedication and a bit of help along the way.
