What is your teaching philosophy?

You can be whoever you want to be if you believe in yourself and have self-discipline! That's the key to your success.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Conduct a French greeting!

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By practical activities that may help the student not see French as a hard lesson, but instead as an exciting language.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would make a lesson exciting!

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I will be more patient with them, and try to figure out what makes it so hard for them to understand the material.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I will suggest that they read slowly a couple of times in order to understand the topic better.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I will give them homework every day in order for them to understand the material. Only French will be spoken in class in order to improve their French skills.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I will give them a quiz every day to see if they memorized the lesson. If not, I will keep going over that specific topic until they understand it.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

Offer praise and acknowledge students' accomplishments, both in private and in front of their classmates. I always start with a positive statement, and then you can add on to it by referring to what they need to work on.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

For my first day, I will ask them their needs. After this I will know how to improve their communication skills.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Topical books and my own notes!
