Hi, I'm Jill! I am a German major at West Chester University. Learning languages is my hobby and my passion. I also love to teach! I am currently the German tutor for the Department of Languages and Cultures at West Chester University. I love working with people and I enjoy teaching so much because it is very rewarding to be able to watch someone learn and discover and to help them meet their goals. I want to be a tutor to share my love of learning and languages with other people.
I have a 4.0 at West Chester University and I am the Cultural Liaison for the WCU German Club and Alpha Mu Gamma, the National Foreign Language Honors Society.

I love cooking, reading, playing with my dogs, riding my bike, hiking and dancing. I just started ballroom, salsa and swing! I love music and I can occasionally be found playing guitar and singing.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe learning should be fun and exciting! I try to inspire a passion for learning in my students by being enthusiastic about the things I teach.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During a first session, I like to get to know the student and find out their goals for the class and with a tutor. I like to familiarize myself with the student's textbook and create a lesson plan to help the student reach their goals.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I encourage students to explore different resources for learning languages besides the traditional classroom method. There are great apps, podcasts, websites, books, movies, television shows, meet up groups, and other resources to help a student practice their language skills. The best way to become an independent learner is to find a method of learning that feels more like fun and less like work.
