I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Jeannie

Certified Tutor

I'm a versatile and experienced tutor. In 2011 I graduated from Smith College, a rigorous and highly-ranked private liberal arts college located in Massachusetts. I have worked with a wide range of clients, from elementary school students in my rural hometown, to urban high school students in an overseas territory of France in the Indian Ocean, to homeless and low-income adults in San Francisco, and I have enjoyed learning from them as much as they have learned from me. I am currently working as a youth mentor at an alternative charter high school in Lakewood, and I love every moment of it, as difficult as those moments may be. My greatest strength and joy as a tutor is English language and literature - whether you have a third-grader reading their first novel, or an eleventh-grader studying for the SAT or AP English, I can help! My specialty lies in helping others to understand definitions and express ideas in their own words, rather than simply copying the dictionary definition or parroting others' words. I go the extra mile to make sure my client truly understands a concept or specific material.
