If there's anything I've learned from all of my work experiences, it's that I really love to teach. I find I have a knack for understanding peoples' learning styles and teaching in an individualized way that helps people learn things that they otherwise have trouble with. I also know a lot of tricks for studying and test-taking well.
I have had a great deal of tutoring and teaching experience, with all ages. My first teaching experience was working as a Teaching Assistant for a private tutoring company where I followed tailored curricula to tutor students from four to sixteen years old who were having trouble in math, reading, or study skills. I also worked as an environmental science teacher in Benin, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. In Benin I had my own daily class of eighteen to twenty-five year-olds for whom I developed my own curriculum tailored to their needs. I also started a critical thinking club for elementary and early high school students that generated a lot of enthusiasm. Finally, I have been tutoring with Varsity Tutors for a while and have had many satisfied clients.
I am currently working for an environmental nonprofit here in DC; I love to sing and play guitar, go to concerts, watch science fiction TV shows and read whatever I can. I hope that's enough to give an idea of who I am and how I teach!
